We're delighted to share that all five days of this year's program have been successfully completed, culminating in the Kansai NPO Global Voices Forum on the final day.

Over the course of the program, seven NPOs based across the Kansai region worked step by step toward a single goal: being able to introduce their organization's mission clearly and confidently in English, to an international audience, for the first time.

Days 1 & 2: with Megumi Ishimoto — Finding the Message

The program opened with a keynote from Megumi Ishimoto on why and how overseas fundraising matters for Kansai NPOs, followed by a close look at what international donors and supporters actually look for, the kind of information, evidence, and tone that builds credibility abroad. Participants examined the gap between how Japanese NPOs typically introduce themselves and what international audiences expect, then began shaping their own key messages.

Day 3: with Mary Anne Jorgensen — Finding the Voice

Day 3 turned to the human side of communication: how communication styles differ between Japanese speakers and Western professionals, how to build empathy across that gap, and how to strike the right tone in a short spoken pitch. Participants reworked their own drafts individually and gave each other peer feedback in small groups, sharpening not just their words, but how they came across.

Day 4:Voice Training

On Day 4, participants practiced reading their English scripts aloud. Scripts that had gone through many rounds of revision to reach their final form. From there, they continued refining the wording to make it easier to read smoothly, and kept practicing repeatedly at home as well. We heard many comments like, "This is the first time I've ever worked this hard on English!"

Day 5: The Kansai NPO Global Voices Forum

The program culminated in the Kansai NPO Global Voices Forum, where all seven participating organizations delivered their 2–3 minute English pitches to a diverse audience,  including representatives from foreign consulates and diplomatic missions, and members of the wider international and social-impact community in Kansai. The forum closed with an informal networking session, giving presenters and attendees the chance to speak directly with one another.

Presentation Videos Coming Soon

We'll be sharing individual video recordings of each participant's presentation shortly. Please stay tuned!

Thank you to Megumi Ishimoto and Mary Anne Jorgensen for their guidance throughout the program, to all seven participating NPOs for their hard work and courage in presenting in a second language, and to everyone who came out to support the forum. We look forward to continuing to help Kansai's NPOs share their work with the world.
